Frequently Asked Questions

These are the most commonly asked questions at Devon Cycle Hire. Hopefully this page will give you all the information you need when visiting.

From our centre you can access The Granite Way without having to cycle on a single road. We always advise our customers to turn right and take the route down to Lydford as this offers the nicest views and more places to stop for refreshments and food. A visit to Lydford Gorge makes for a great day out. (Entrance fee slightly discounted if you arrive by bike.) Heading in this direction will encompass Lake Viaduct. On your return it is worth heading on a little further to see the spectacular Meldon Viaduct & Meldon Dam 🚴

It's always a good idea to book your bikes and is now so easy to do so via our new online booking form. This gives us a heads up on the days events and in turn makes for a happier smoother customer experience. You don't have to pay to make a booking and if you change your mind or the weather is not terribly terrific on your hire day then you can simply cancel or swap to a sunnier day. πŸ“… 🚲

To be able to hire a bike you will need photo I.D. eg a driving licence or passport.
We find this an essential requirement as you will be borrowing over a thousand pounds of our bikes.
Renting a Betamax video requires more I.D than this.
So no I.D , no Bikey...😎

Yes we have a free car park for our cycle hire customers. If you have friends who are bringing their own bikes then more parking is available nearby. πŸ…ΏοΈ

Yes we run a basic operation called The Pit-Stop Cafe selling refreshments for cyclists on the go. We have hot drinks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and locally made sweet treats like brownie & flapjack. We don't have any Double Mocha Hota-Skinny Caramel Macchiato. β˜•οΈ
We also stock plenty of locally made ice creams.

What A Great Australian Family

On Tuesday, my family and I were fortunate enough to hire bikes from you. We had a wonderful time and would like to thank you for the care you showed and your attention to detail. The bikes were excellent, the adjacent route was beautiful and your kindness and friendliness amounted to a terrific day! Thank you so much.

When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking. !!!
