The Granite Way on Dartmoor offers one of the most scenic and accessible cycling routes in the South West of England, making it an ideal place to hire a bike and explore the landscape at your own pace. Stretching across the northern edge of Dartmoor National Park, the trail follows a traffic-free path along a former railway line between Okehampton and Lydford. With gentle gradients, dramatic moorland views, and striking features such as the Meldon Viaduct, the route is suitable for riders of all abilities.

We’re situated halfway along The Granite Way, with direct access onto the cycle path from our hire centre. From the moment you set off, the Granite Way provides a safe and enjoyable way to experience the rugged beauty of Dartmoor, combining fresh air, open landscapes, and the freedom to explore one of Devon’s most distinctive cycling routes.

Bike Hire

Hiring a bike from us couldn’t be easier! We have a great selection of well-maintained bikes in our fleet including hybrid, step-throughs, ebikes and tandems. Our friendly staff will help you with everything you need – recommending points of interest and places to eat and drink to make the most of your day.

Your safety is important to us – free use of a helmet, lock and map of the trail are included with every hire!

We are less than 1 minute from the A30. Take the Sourton Cross exit off the A30 towards Tavistock/Plymouth. Head towards Tavistock, 100 yeards from the exit follow the brown tourist sign pointing left to Devon Cycle Hire. Free car parking available on site. We have lots of bike parking too!

Want to get to us by bus?

You can catch the 118 or 6B bus from Tavistock/Okehampton to Sourton Cross, which stops just outside us. When you get off the bus, just walk forward and turn left and you’ll be with us!
